MCA Road Calendar

Ok so here it is in all in it’s grandeur. Sorry for the lateness of getting it ready, but I have been pretty busy lately.

This will also be on the Blog. All events after they are posted here become the Organizer’s responsibility to execute the race. The MCA will assist with obtaining permits where requested.

All races are subject to permits being granted.

Joint COmmittee Meeting, Date, LOcation

The joint scheduling meeting is going to take place at 1030 Feb 16. There are still a few issues and there will be a discussion about event standards. This is an optional meeting but all are welcome to attend. I will be there with the calendar as we have it, amended.

The meeting is at the Health Sciences Center, aka “Hals Library” and here are the instructions.

RACE STANDARDS

From tonites meeting here are the draft standards we have agreed to:

We will keep our "deadlines" consistent with MTB, so Form A will be required 3 months in advance, Form B will be 1 month in advance of event.

The Organizer shall agree to the following commitments:

Commissaires in place
Medical in place
Volunteers in place (for a road race (not crit or ITT or cross) should include "follow cars")
Permits all in place for location
A mimimum committment to provide water and some food for racers after race
Washrooms must be available within a reasonable distance from race area, i.e. a few 100 meters, and the directions should be at sign in table
Organizer is to provide results to the MCA (likely Road Co-Ordinator and/or Exec Director) same day as event.

This is an area I would like to see some comments one.

FN 1:
You will note there is no Road Cup. This may be subject to change, we did not really discuss it and as two clubs may still pick from some of the available dates we will hold off cup designation until that time.
FN:2 The Alter Ego ITT was changed as the July date is the date which works for the club.

CROSS:

We forgot to discuss if this is a series. Please advise me if you want that. If we do a Cup series there is a $2.00 per racer fee. The advantage, MCA will be providing Jerseys to winner(s)

Sorry about the late notice, the meeting location for January 13 is now at the Rowing Club. Same time, 530. See you all there.

More races

The MCA Provincial Team has asked, and had alread reserved this a few months ago, that they continue with the Tuesday night crit series. Those races will start early May and continue to the week of Provincial Crit, likely Aug 14, 21, or 28.

The Park has already provided authorization for those Tues crits as I understand it.

JANUARY 13 MEETING

The Scheduling meeting is January 13, not 16th.

There is a joint committee road/mtb for the 16th, likely at 930 am to sort it all out.

The Olympia Club has asked to do a Road Race - classic type event for April 25.

They would like to do a cross race late September - out of town - and late October for the Belgian Club race.

Fog has asked for an ITT on May 2 or 9 at BHP, Stony Mtn Race June 15, and is prepared to the the Provincial ITT in early August - (there is a potential schedule conflict on this so it will be TBA).

Fog would also like to do a cross race at Whittier Park, in October.

I could be wrong but I believe that is all the confirmed interest so far.

Training Co-Op would is also wanting a similar race spot to last year.

A FINAL NOTE: Please be reminded that "A" level clubs are, as part of the agreement with MCA, required to put on 3 events over the year (it does not matter the discipline, i.e. one MTB two cross is fine.)

January 13 Meeting

Happy new Year.

The MCA road committee will be having its annual scheduling meeting on January 13 at 530, location TBA but likely 5th Floor – 405 Broadway. That is my office. For those of you who did not know the MCA is basically without office space currently because the construction of the new offices is taking some time.

The purpose of the meeting is to finalize the races which are going to be held in Manitoba this summer. Currently the Tuesday night crit series is a go, pending city approval.

There are roughed in races for other dates as well including Provincials.

As with last year the cross calendar will also be set so cross organizers should also attend this meeting.

There will also be discussion about race standards for the up coming season.

Please advise in advance of your attendance (by Monday preferably) so that I can arrange for space etc.
